  9. 1. Status
  10. ---------
  11. HP-Penguin 1.6 is SHAREWARE. The work  on this program is enormous and
  12. I think    that a shareware fee of     20    DM is something    that everybody can
  13. afford.    So please support the work that    has    gone into this program and
  14. I promise that there'll be many more updates...

  33. 2. Improvements
  34. ---------------
  35. Version 1.3  - 1.451: HP-Penguin runs also as an Accessory and
  36. even under MultiTOS. This has been achieved by using the
  37. GFA-Flydial-Library 4.9 by Gregor Duchalski.
  38. Version 1.45 - 1.451: Complete translation of the comments!
  39.                       The headings can now be set seperately
  40.                       few bugs fixed in the German RSC-file
  41.                1.452: Bug fixes! English RSC should now work.
  42.                       Image name converted to lower case letters.
  43.                       Image size automatically recognized (GIF only)
  44.                1.5:   'Set Layout' dialog. 'Extended' and 'Freestyle'
  45.                       are planned for version 1.7 .
  46.                       'Professional' modus: In this modus you can
  47.                       change the size of the headings, use up to 10
  48.                       links and set the colour for activated links.

  52. 3. System requirements: 
  53. -----------------------
  54. Computer  : Atari ST/TT/Falcon, TOS 1.4 - 4.4, MultiTOS, MagiC(PC/Mac)
  55. Resolution: 640 * 200 or higher
  56. Memory    : HP-Penguin will take about 100KB of memory.
  57. Application type: ACC or PRG. Pure GEM.

  59. With the HP-Penguin    you    can    create    your own HTML-page without knowing
  60. any    HTML-commands. You create it by    answering a    few    questions. You can
  61. choose a background, make a    two-column-text, insert    a picture and many
  62. more.
  63. Please note    that HP-Penguin    has    NOT     an    integrated editor. You have    to
  64. use    an editor to write the text    for    your web page (it must not contain
  65. html commands).    The    reason why    HP-Penguin    has     not an    own    editor is,
  66. that it    would increase the program    length dramatically. And there are
  67. already    some great    editors     around.  By  the  way,     the  Penguin will
  68. recognize the paragraphs  correctly     (okay,     it's  just     a very    stupid
  69. little routine that    sets a    paragraph  if  the    length    of the line    is
  70. lower than a user definged length).

  72. The program explains itself so it would be the best if you
  73. start it right now!
  74.  
  75. This program has been written with GFA-Basic 3.5E on an
  76. Atari Falcon. It is inspirated by a similar program for
  77. Windows (Home Page Wizard).

  79. 4. The language
  80. ---------------
  81. As said before, HP-Penguin is bi-lingual German/English.
  82. There is also a French RSC file but it is an absolutely 
  83. awful translation done by me. If anybody wants to do a
  84. translation to another language please contact me.

  86.  4.1 Falcon owners
  87.      You are lucky when you have a Falcon because HP-Penguin
  88.      will look at the _AKP-cookie and will load the correct
  89.      RSC-file. If the desktop language is set to other values
  90.      than German or English, HP-Penguin will automatically
  91.      choose the English resource file.
  92.  4.2 ST/TT owners, MagicPC/mac
  93.      If you are owner of an Atari ST/TT you have to choose
  94.      the language differently. There are two methods:
  95.      I) Rename one of the two resource files will cause
  96.         HP-Penguin to load the other.
  97.         Example: Rename HPPING.RSC to HPPING.RSX
  98.                  HP-Penguin will load HPPING_E.RSC.
  99.         This will also work on a Falcon.
  100.      II) Start the program without renaming one of the RSC-
  101.          files.
  102.          A box will appear with the question which language
  103.          you want to have.
  104.  4.3 Emulator users and ST compatibles
  105.      As I have no experience with Atari emulators or the new
  106.      clone machines, I can not say if you need to rename
  107.      the files or not.

  109. 5. Known bugs/limitations
  110. -------------------------
  111. 1. Please close the HP-Penguin window if you are using the
  112.    Penguin as an ACC under Single-TOS and are starting a
  113.    program!
  114. 2. Webspace 1.4b doesn't view HP-Penguin pages correctly. This is not
  115.    an error of the Penguin! Till a better version of this very young
  116.    program, use CAB to view the pages.

  118. 6. Future enhancements
  119. ----------------------
  120. * You can see one in the start dialogue: Load HTML file.
  121. * Perhaps I will use FaceValue for the next versions of HP-Penguin.
  122.   This would allow new features.
  123. * Support for tables and the 'Extended' & 'Freestyle' option in
  124.   the layout dialog.

  142.  9.1 HTML-Help
  143.  Conversion of special characters between HTML, Windows, Atari and
  144. DOS (important for non-English texts). A conversion of paths is
  145. also possible.

  150.  * The Information option shows you the specs of your page

  152.  * Runs also as an Accessory and fine with editors like Edith

  154.    letters or shortened to the 8+3 TOS format.

  156.  9.2 Tabi!
  157.  Tabi converts ASCII tables which can be produced e.g. by Atari Works
  158.  via 'Import file...' to HTML 3 tables. You can set different font
  159.  styls, colours etc. for every cell. The file created by this program
  160.  can be insert in a HTML page and you have a table without typing a
  161.  single HTML command!
